BIG SKATING SCENE - SEPT 13-14!!

We are specifically looking for people who can actually roller skate at this open call.  Casting calls for regular folks will happen online as the shoot progresses.  Please note: THIS CALL IS FOR SKATERS ONLY.  We will be publishing calls for regular NON SKATING background Performers later this week.

Also:

- Please wear period clothing if possible (this is set in 1980)

- Please bring roller skates if you have them (no roller blades, we're purists...)

- Please bring safety equipment if you have it (this doesn't have to be period)

Picnicface has been nominated for the third straight year for BEST SKETCH TROUPE at the Canadian Comedy Awards. If you are not a part of a union you can register as a PUBLIC VOTER and vote for PICNICFACE. You can also vote for THE BUTTON as best online web video. 

If you are an ACTRA member or a member of another union affiliated with film, TV or stage then please head to The Canadian Comedy Awards and register as an INDUSTRY VOTER. You'll have to wait for voting to reopen in November.

Picnicface's own Bill Wood has been nominated for a Merritt Award -- that is, a Nova Scotia Theatre Award -- for Best Supporting Actor in East of Berlin. Winners will be announced March 29th. Go Bill!

Next Friday, February 19, at 7 pm, we'll be taping a CBC Radio Special at the Dunn Theatre in the Dalhousie Arts Centre. It'll be taped in front of a live audience, so if you're interested in an hour of funny sketches in front of standing microphones, come on down! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Rebecca Cohn Box Office (call 902-494-3820).

Picnicface will be performing on two shows at this year's San Francisco Sketchfest! The shows are Friday, Jan. 15, 8 pm (at the Eureka Theatre, where we'll be opening for Paul F. Tompkins) and Saturday, Jan. 16, 10:30 pm at the Dark Room Theatre.

One Night Only; Andrew Bush's short film, Backshift will be screening at the Oxford Theatre in Halifax at 7PM on Wednesday NOV 25TH. 

Every Sunday we perform at Joker's Comedy Club on Spring Garden Road, Halifax. Two weeks a month it's new sketch (plus improv), then on alternating weeks it's a "special treat" show, like a live debate, an improv bonanza or a video show. 8 pm start time, 7 pm doors, $5 cover. 

This Saturday, Oct. 31, we'll be doing a special Halloween show at Joker's Comedy Club on Spring Garden Rd. in Halifax (under Mexicali Rosa's). An hour and a half of sketch comedy with a special bloodsy-gory twist. Then, Sunday, we'll be back at Joker's with a new sketch and improv show. 

Hi everyone, we'll be starting up our sketch show again this Sunday, Oct. 18th, at Joker's Comedy Club (5680 Spring Garden Rd., below Mexicali Rosa's). Eventually, we'll be getting into weekly shows there -- we'll post a schedule once we figure out what's up. In the meantime, come help us christen our new digs. $5 at the door, cheap beer. It's true. Picnicface's Mark Little took home the title in JFL's annual stand-up comedy competition this year. Them bitches didn't know, but them bitches may have learned. 

Improv Monologue Project takes some of the world's best improvisors and gives them two minutes to perform a monologue without any preparation!

Andrew Bush, the director for most of the Picnicface shorts, is currently involved in a CBC short-film competition. The winner gets a big budget for their next short.

Picnicface's very own Mark Little has beat out some of Canada's best comedians to take home the top prize in Yuk Yuk's Great Canadian Laugh Off!

We've got a new home for our Sunday sketch show: The Paragon (formerly the Marquee). We'll be kicking off our every-other-Sunday schedule on May 10th, so come on down for new sketches, new videos, and improv. $5, 8 pm.

Because of our TWO cancellations via Air Canada we weren't able to make our first show at the People's Improv Theater (P.I.T.) in New York. So we've added one extra show on Sunday, April 5th, at 9:30 pm. Bonus: it's only $5! Come on out!

We've been working on a screenplay called Roller Town and recently made a trailer to show producers that it's worth the investment.  Check it out here!

Last year Andy got a CBC grant to make a 22-minute movie, which he did. It's called Backshift. It features a bunch of Picnicface members and is currently in post-production, so it should be ready in the coming months. Click here to check out the teaser trailer if you're interested.

Ginger's Tavern, our longtime venue, is closing after this week. That means this Sunday will be the last Picnicface show ever at Ginger's, and maybe the last sketch show for a while, depending on how long it takes us to find a new home. Come on down and laugh/cry with us. (All new sketches!)

CBC Radio is doing a live recording of their national radio show Laugh Out Loud at the Sir James Dunn Theatre on Feb. 12, and Picnicface is performing in it! If you're interested, tickets are on sale now. 

Thanks to everyone who came out to our shows in Toronto last week. They were packed and full of fun. (Read: They were packed with fun. Thus: Toronto is full of fun-packers.)

This year the Canadian Comedy Awards were held in Regina and Picnicface was among the top selected sketch troupes in the country to take part in the activities.  We didn't win, but we did have fun.  Thanks fun!
